Police are appealing for information after a 9-year-old boy from Hartlepool was in a collision with a white Citroen van. Officers were called to the junction of Stockton Road and Ashgrove Place in Hartlepool at around 5:10pm today.

The boy was taken to James Cook University Hospital with head injuries where he remains in a poorly but stable condition.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to speak with Ian Robson from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency number 101.
