Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault at the Bongo Nightclub in Middlesbrough.

The incident took place between 1.45am and 2.30am on Sunday 27th October.

Several people were involved in the incident, which began in the smoking area, and a 34-year-old man was bitten and injured with what is believed to be a knife.

The victim suffered serious facial injuries in the assault, which resulted in him needing 70 stitches.

Any witnesses to the incident are asked to contact DC Joanne Hill from Middlesbrough CID on the non-emergency 101 number or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
