Surrey Police can confirm that a man’s body has been found in the River Thames near Hampton following a search for a man after concerns were raised for his safety earlier this evening.

Officers were called to the area near Hampton Sailing club at around 6.45pm on Thursday, 1 August after a man was seen to enter the water.

The body has not yet been formally identified and enquiries are on-going to trace the next of kin. At this stage in the investigation the death is being treated as unexplained.
